Outside Looking In

She waited for him across the street
He was sitting at a small table in a cafe
Oh, but he was not alone
There was a woman across from him

She was smiling at him and laughing
A slim figure and long black hair
He joined in with her laughter and a heat in his eyes
It was as if they were old, intimate friends

That could very well be the case
She knew he had a long list of women
He’d told her of a few right after sex
Which made her feel like he was comparing

This was different from the casual past
Lately he had been hinting at something more
She could no longer watch the scene in front of her
Anya walked away and didn’t look back
